Update On The Show

October 28th, 2009 by Kyle

After some discussion amongst ourselves about what to do in the aftermath of Mike’s unexpected passing, we at the podcast have decided to record a show this week that will contain our goodbyes, followed by the remainder of the still-unaired interviews we recorded at the Alternative Press Expo two weeks ago, most of which included Mike.

This will end up being Episode #21, which we’ll post next Tuesday, as normal.

After that, we’re going to take a week or two away from the show. We are all absolutely certain that Mike would want the show to go on, and indeed it will, but we’re sure you’ll all understand that we need some time before we return to it.

Thank you for all the kind comments. They do help.

Mike Nebeker: 1967-2009

October 27th, 2009 by Kyle

Headshot3

It is with deep sadness that the Geek Tragedy Podcast must inform our listeners of the passing of our co-host and friend, Mike Nebeker. Mike passed away this afternoon (October 27th) of what appears at present to have been a stroke. He was 41 years old.

If any of you out there can, please spare a thought or a prayer for Mike and his family.

We’re still very much in shock over Mike’s passing, and hope that you show a bit of patience with us in the days ahead as we come to terms with this sorrowful event.

Being a part of the podcast was something that brought Mike a lot of joy, and we’re sure he would want each and every one of the people who took the time to listen to understand that. All of us at NPC Comics and the Geek Tragedy Podcast want to express that, and to thank you.

Our First Contest!

October 20th, 2009 by Kyle

balloon-boy-tshirt2

We here at the Geek Tragedy Podcast would like to announce our very first listener contest!

The way it works is simple. We’re sure that everyone out there has heard by now about the Falcon Henne “Balloon Boy” incident. So we know you’ll all be ready to answer a question about it for a chance to win a prize.

The question is this: In the inevitable South Park episode that will be made about this incident (and we all know that it’s coming), which of the boys will be the one who ends up being the Balloon Boy? Will it be Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, or Butters?

Send your e-mail answer to us at geektragedy@npccomics.com. Make sure to put the character name you picked in the topic of your e-mail!

After the episode airs, we’ll select five listeners who had the correct answer at random to receive a fabulous NPC Comics “Hella Good” Prize Pack™!

Only one entry per e-mail address will be accepted, and (of course) entries will not be accepted after the episode airs.

So enter now, while the getting’s good!

EDIT: In response to a listener question, we’re publishing a slight clarification to the rules. If the commercial for the episode reveals who the South Park Balloon Boy will be before the episode airs, we will select the winners from entries made before the commercial began to air.

So don’t wait – send in your entry today!
